Introduction

The Zung anxiety questionnaire brings emotional and physical experiences together in 20 statements. It includes nervousness and fear alongside sensations such as trembling, dizziness and difficulty sleeping.

Bodily symptoms can have several explanations. Their timing, medication use, illness and stressful events provide context that a frequency rating alone cannot supply. Noticing which experiences occur together can make a discussion more specific.

GAD-7 focuses on a short set of recent anxiety symptoms; the Penn State questionnaire concentrates on worry. Zung offers a broader mix of bodily and emotional statements. These different question sets should be compared by content rather than by treating their totals as equivalent.
